CONFIRMED: Chloe Moretz to star as Cassie in adaptation of ‘The 5th Wave’ by Rick Yancey

We reported a few days ago that she had been offered the role, but now we know she’s accepted! It’s been confirmed by The Wrap, Chloe Moretz will play Cassie Sullivan in the adaptation of The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. J Blakeson (“The Disappearance of Alice Creed”) is directing “The 5th Wave” from a script by Susannah Grant (“Erin Brockovich”). The movie is the first of a planned franchise in the vein of Divergent and The Hunger Games. What do you all think? Sound off in the comments!
The film, which is in the trendy dystopian genre, takes place in a future where aliens are attacking earth in a dries of ‘waves.’ The characters in this book are anticipating “the 5th wave,” which is sure to wipe of yet more humans off the planet. On the run to save her younger brother, 16-year-old Cassie meets a mysterious young man who may become her final hope.

GK Films principal Graham King will produce with Tobey Maguire (The Great Gatsby and Spiderman actor) for Sony Pictures.
